We should be collecting text messages from both sides; incoming and outgoing. On certain devices the storage area of where the texting app stores the incoming and outgoing messages can be modified. Example: Some phone plans come with metered outgoing text plans (not unlimited) so they customize the outgoing text data location and make it non-standard.
What to do:
See if Google’s Android Messages App works. Download it from Google Play; It's this one:
When you start Android Messages, it will ask you to make it the default SMS App; Agree to that and test:
- Send your child a text from your phone
- Reply to the text from your child's phone
- Open Boomerang, tap on 3 dots and then Update Status (this forces the child device to check into our server immediately - great for testing! - rather than waiting for the check-in frequency)
- Are both incoming and outgoing logs present?

I could not see my daughter's outgoing text. This fixed that issue. Thanks!
