Why does Boomerang not auto-update on my child's device?

Symptom: In your Google Play settings you are have the Auto-update apps enabled so when new updates are available they are installed. In the case of Boomerang, our app will not auto-update and require you to manual force it to update. 

Why?

Boomerang runs in the background at all times, it's never really "turned off" so Google Play will not update apps that are running at all times. This is in part a form of protection and also could cause issues in cases where an app is performing important tasks (like Boomerang blocking apps, counting screen time, etc). 

Solution: 

When Boomerang updates on your parent device, make sure to manually check your child's device for an update as our app will be available for both modes (Child and Parent) any time there's an update. 

Important Notes:

Accessibility permissions: in some rare cases when updating Boomerang on your child's device, we may lose our permissions for the Accessibility Service. After the update has been applied, do a quick check to see if app blocking is still working and open Boomerang on your child's device to see if there's a prompt to re-enable the Accessibility service permissions.
