This list will keep growing but here are a few scenarios we have supported in regards to battery drain when Boomerang is installed on your child's device. In the majority of cases, Boomerang doesn't add much battery drain on your child's device but there are a few variables that could impact it.
Review Display Timeout
When the display timeout is set to a high amount or to never turn off unless the phone is locked by the user (yoru child), Boomerang may appear to drain the battery in the following scenarios.
Example: When we block scheduled screen time and a notification comes in, the display will turn on with our blocked message. If the display timeout is set to something longer than 2/3 minutes, that will drain the battery fast. Most kids get many notifications in a days time.
Display Brightness
Related to the above points, if the brightest is set to max, that will have bigger battery drain when we wake up the device with our blocked message. Consider lowering it or having set to automatic if the device supports it.
Battery savers/optimizers
Most battery saver features in their "normal" setting will help extend the life of the device's battery life. Do make a note of some of the devices where the battery optimizers are very aggressive and can actually break background services like Boomerang Parental Control. Here's a list of current devices we know have these and how to exempt Boomerang.
Battery Optimizers - ASUS devices
Battery Optimizers - Huawei devices
Battery Optimizers - OnePlus devices
Battery Optimizers - Meizu devices
Battery Optimizers - Nokia devices
Battery Optimizers - Sony devices
Battery Optimizers - Xiaomi devices
